At Qualcomm Ventures, we want to see a world where everyone with a promising idea has the chance to bring it to life. Our goal is to help accelerate innovation by bridging entrepreneurs to the resources, relationships, and expertise they need. In order to do that, we must seek opportunities to elevate the brightest minds and encourage diversity within our community.

We believe that diversity encourages different points of view, which is valuable for any company. Studies show that diverse and women-led teams perform better across several metrics and generate greater financial returns. But women have long been left on the sidelines, receiving a fraction of investment capital compared to men. In 2018, only 2.2 percent of the $130 billion of venture capital money invested went to female founders. We want to be part of changing that statistic for the better.

That’s why we’re proud to hold our Female Founders Summit on July 10th in San Francisco to shine the spotlight on ten cutting-edge startups with at least one female founder. These companies represent the present and future of artificial intelligence, IoT, virtual reality, and mobile technology — sectors that are not just of particular interest to us but that also currently lack female representation.

At the event, founders will have the opportunity to connect with venture capitalists and a valuable network of industry leaders; developing these relationships will be critical as they scale their business. Another key element of the event — and one we’re really looking forward to — is the startup competition. An elite group of innovative startups will pitch their business plan to the audience and a panel of judges for the chance to win $500K in the form of a convertible note, and the potential for additional funding and mentorship. In addition, the winning company will join our portfolio of companies, giving them access to Qualcomm resources, a strong network of ecosystems partners, and deep industry expertise, which will be invaluable as they work towards taking their company to the next level.

We’re humbled by the great work of our participants — AON Devices, AR Wall, BlinkAi, Blue Canoe Learning, Embodied Labs, Lab4U, Lily AI, On Second Thought, Raybaby, and Wavelength Global — and we wish them all great success.
Get ready for an afternoon of innovation, competition, and diversity — powered by some of the brightest women in tech.
